The New "Village" Schools (A.K.A. Continuation or "Community" Schools) Look out they are probably in your town.

Don't be fooled. The Continuation School is not what it used to be. These schools will be the schools that retain children who don't fit the mold of the student cooperative with the plan for School to Careers. Plans to cite kids for truancy or lack of cooperation in the classroom can land them before an attendance committee that will make the decisions and not the parents. They are complete with counseling (this varies from program to program) that is decided by the school. A truancy officer is also assigned to the school. Where did we lose the right to drop out of school? Are we still in America? Is this tough love or imprisonment? The school decides when the student is allowed to leave.
