Objective:

To obtain a position as a programmer using Perl, C, HTML, JavaScript, and/or CGI, or as a System Administrator (Jr. or intermediate level).

Education:

  • AA System Programming - DeAnza College; June, 2000
       -- Magna Cum Laude --
  • AA Network Programming - DeAnza College; June, 2000
       -- Magna Cum Laude --
  • AA Network Administration from DeAnza College (Almost complete)

Currently: ( June 2001 to present )

I have be furthering my studies in Web Programming and Java. I have also been doing some independent work for McCutchan (see below) and I've been doing some proof reading work on a UNIX text book (see work experience under DeAnza below).

My Latest Employment: ( December 2000 to June 2001 )

McCutchan Integrated Direct Mail Services ( Contact: JR Ante - (408) 519-3440 )

I was hired on a temporary basis to fix some broken web sites that are used by McCutchan's customers for online ordering of the material that McCutchan handles for them. The sites were fixed and the project continued to include the development of an entire suite of CGI scripts that enable McCutchan clients to track orders, check shipping status, and view or print a variety of online reports and allows McCutchan employees to track orders, generate all manner of custom online reports, to view and edit their online databases, and to view or print packing slips.

All functions employ custom file locking along with page time outs. Also, each site is configurable from within a single database that determines different options for each site (each client has their own separate site), such as log in requirements, page styles, and so on...

These functions are all Perl CGI scripts ( with some JavaScript and CSS thrown in ) that behave well on both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer.

After DeAnza: ( June 2000 to December 2000 )

Web Sites

    I developed 2 web sites: www.svwt.com and www.lostmine.com.

Independent Study

I was involved in doing independent study in a variety of subjects, including various aspects of Unix System Administration ( NIS, NFS, Sendmail, Apache, etc. ) and other programming techniques, such as different methods of CGI implementation, data base access, and Javascript.

Work Experience at DeAnza:

Lab Assistant - Cisco Router Lab ( Winter and Spring of 2000 )

My duties included setting up the equipment for the various labs, troubleshooting and fixing the network setups, and helping students complete their labs. The labs involved configuring router interfaces, IP addresses, configuring static and dynamic routing protocols, and configuring communication protocols such as X.25, Frame Relay and PPP.

Proofreading ( Summer 1997 - Fall 1999 )

In addition to my studies, I proofread 5 textbooks for two of my instructors that are also authors (Forouzan & Gilberg). The books included Data Structures (C and C++ versions), Beginning Programming (C and C++ versions), and TCP/IP. I proofread all chapters and supplied student solutions to all of the exercises and problems at the end of each chapter.
