Emma Boynet
French pianist
Boynet was a superb pianist who had a distinguished career in the 20s, 30s and 40s. She performed as soloist with such conductors as Charles Münch, Leopold Stokowski and Serge Koussevitsky. She was a former pupil of Isidor Philipp at the Conservatoire de Paris, and her close professional association with Phillipp continued until his death. Later, she became closely associated with the Swiss pianist, conductor and composer Rudolf Ganz (who is pictured below.)
Boynet was renowned for her performances of the music of Fauré, whom she had known personally at the Conservatoire. When Boynet, died, she willed my mother, Janine Bourgoin, her Medaille de Premier Prix in piano from the Conservatoire de Paris. In those days, winners were awarded a large silver medal. (However, I received only a certificate when I won my 2 premiers prix at the Conservatoire in 1970 and 1971.) Below the photo is Emma Boynet's Medaille de Premier Prix in Piano.
