Marcel Moyse
Was there ever a more passionate flute player than Marcel Moyse? Whether playing, teaching or just talking about the flute, Moyse gave of himself with a generosity of spirit that was unequalled. Here he is in the 1960s at his master class at Bosvil, Switzerland, listening to a bearded Irishman, then the Principal Flute of the Berlin Philharmonic, who just happened to drop into the class that day unannounced to play a piece for Moyse's birthday. After the 'mystery' flutist had departed, Moyse said to the class: "Trop de ritards."
